MitchelLake are proud have partnered with a high-growth, Australian start-up to search for a talented and experienced Lead UX Designer who will own the UX and Design across the platform. One who has a strong, progressive vision for user experience and a history of designing responsive, mobile-first sites that include discovery, onboarding, search, engagement and personalisation.
Reporting directly to the VP of Product, the Senior UX role will manage one UI designer and collaborate effectively with key stakeholders including Product and Developer leads.
Own the User Experience
Create engaging, elegant, simple user-centered design solutions that address complex business and user needs. Helping to define design patterns that can be used across the entire product ecosystem.
Lead and facilitate brainstorming sessions and workshops with multidisciplinary teams during early stages of product ideation. Develop a strong point of view on product concepts.
Produce concept models, design principles, journey maps, interaction flows, wireframes, and interactive prototypes
Produce final high-fidelity mocks that are creative and thoughtful in both interaction and design
Collaborate with engineers through specs and one-on-one sessions to ensure world class thinking and quality user experience in agile process.
Lead and manage user research and usability studies to iterate design solutions based on customer dat
Collaborating deeply with product managers and engineers through the product lifecycle to ensure designs are addressing user and business needs, lean and feasible to implement, and are subsequently implemented accuratel
Present your design work to peers and partners with exceptional presentation, communication, and negotiation skills. Be a leader both inside the UX group as well as within a project team.
Design and develop experiences that can be mapped directly to business and customer needs.
Help cultivate a strong design culture within the business through managing UI member(s), organizing opportunities for skills sharing and/or developing thought leadership within the UX community through teaching and speaking opportunities.
Minimum 5-8 years of professional experience in UX including management experience
Portfolio demonstrating user flows and interaction patterns across mobile and desktop applications for consumer facing products. Example: buy and sell transactions for e-commerce, marketplace interactions, search patterns, etc.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a design related field
Experience building responsive digital experiences
Experience conducting customer research including usability testing
Expert-level knowledge of wireframing tools (e.g. Illustrator, sketch, Axure)
Technical acumen with web technologies - HTML, CSS, and browser capabilities across platforms. Experience building HTML/CSS prototypes a plus
Experience designing for enterprise SaaS, Search algorithms, mobile apps, and analytics a plus
Experience working in lean and agile environments
